A great vet is worth their weight!

At Schulte Farms we have all of our vets on speed dial. No, that doesn't mean we don't pick up the phone for any little scratch or runny nose. Instead, because we are constantly spending time and monitoring our animals, we catch small problems and fix them before they become large problems. Don't get us wrong, we are not too proud to call the vet! That brings me to the fact that having a great vet can save your puppy's life and save you money in the long run. Here's Heidi, she was rejuvenated by our vet Dr. Kaylee Krekel in Carthage, IL. As breeders and farmers we always are learning something new. A good vet is sometimes hard to come by but here's my tips:
Ask Around! Friends are sometimes right on point!
Choose Friendly. A vet should be trying to win you over, not the other way around.
Connect On Your Pet Care Philosophies. Ask every question you can think of when you meet your vet, truly know your vet's values.
Busier Usually Equals Better. This is the same with any business.
Hours of Operation. Nobody likes bankers hours.
Location, Location, Location. Are you willing to drive to your vet if you had an emergency or vice versa.
